About EALCJ

The European Association of Labour Court Judges was established in 1995 as an independent body committed to the promotion of information and contacts in the field of employment law and judicial practice. Membership is open to Labour Judges in all current and former Member States of the European Union and the European Economic Area.

The principal activities of the Association consist of an annual Conference, at which we discuss a topic of general interest to Labour Judges, and articulation of judicial views in relation to developing legislative and associated initiatives in the field of Labour Law.

The Association’s inaugural Conference was held in Bath, United Kingdom, in 1996. Since then, Conferences have been held in a wide range of venues throughout Europe. The 23rd Conference, addressing the subject of “Crossing Borders: Applying Labour Law in Trans-National Settings”, took place in Dublin, Ireland, on 6-8 June 2019. Reports from that meeting and past Conferences can be accessed on this web-site. Since the Dublin Conference, two further events have taken place remotely, during the period of lockdown resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic.

The next Conference is planned to take place on 8-10 September 2022, on the island of Hydra, Greece, where the subject will be “Labour Courts and Trans-National Proceedings After Covid“.
